I made a project on Microthrusters as part of the course requirements of the course “Introduction to MEMS”.

Microthrusters can be aptly described as the perfect form of thrust generation given you have zero friction and unlimited time supply. They consume very little fuel and can run practically forever. They have the highest efficiency of all current propulsion methods and consume least possible amount of fuel for the same thrust output as compared to conventional methods.

However, the problem is the thrust. Current designs for ion based propulsion systems do not generate more then 10-100 micro Newtons of thrust.

NASA uses microthrusters for its longest space missions.

I am attaching the presentation and final paper I submitted.

It is available here.(Google Drive link)
